Yahoo to host Hackathon in Hyderabad, plans to go mobile-first

Yahoo India will host the sixth edition of its famous hack event, Yahoo! Hack India, on July 13th and 14th in Hyderabad. The hacking extravaganza will kick off with technical workshops followed by a non-stop 24 hYahoo to host Hackathon in Hyderabad, plans to go mobile-firstours coding competition, Hackathon. This is Yahoo’s first event in India hosted outside Bangalore. Yahoo! has been hosting this event since 2007 and has drawn a huge number of hacking enthusiasts since.

Over 1,000 developers from around 20 states in India have signed up for the event as reported by Yahoo! . There was a shortlisting entry-level coding challenge event to select the best 250 hackers among the strong 1,000. The selected hackers will now participate in the two-days event followed by the Hackathon. “This year we expect hackers to build experiences with a mobile-first approach, focusing on high-impact apps and dynamic mobile web experiences that people are excited to use every day.”, Hari Vasudev, Vice-President and Head of Yahoo! India R&D, said in a statement.

Yahoo plans to introduce popular technologies and tools from the Open Web to the participants that would serve as the core building blocks for developing new applications. Yahoo has also mentioned that the best app after passing the scrutiny process will be prized with a lots of goodies. Yahoo has been seen pushing hard in mobile app development lately with acquiring a handful mobile development firms as well.
