If you ever wanted to search for things without being tracked over internet, DuckDuckGo is the new search engine destination you can opt for.Launched in 2008, the search engine has topped the charts recently with a robust traffic record of 2.5 million searches made on last Thursday alone. The website claims to draw information from crowd sourced websites and allows user to “Search Anonymously” without being tracked and revealing any other information, with search accuracy challengeable to Google or Bing Search.
According to Gabriel Weinberg, the founder of DuckDuckGo “Our users know that we don’t track and they’re telling their friends and family. When you search DuckDuckGo, we don’t know who you are and there is no way to tie your searches together.” The government web tracking program, PRISM, which rocked the news last Thursday has proven to be a boon to the search engine firm in boosting its traffic as users who don’t want to be tracked, has turned to DuckDuckGo search since then.
Search engine jargons like Google or Bing Search works similarly by tracking user’s search behavior and eventually sharing the data with advertisers which in turn posts ads on the web depending upon the search history of the user. But so far as DuckDuckGo Search exists, you neither need to think about any government tracking nor advertisement headache, as you will never exist. Simple yet practical enough.
